Description

Lincoln once famously said the United States were “conceived in liberty.” But less than two centuries later, cherished American freedoms—even the fundamental right to make a living—are being smashed by the immense power of the administrative state.

Liberty is in peril.

And never more so than in this time of pandemic.

Government officials, egged on by progressive elements in the mainstream media, have made the medical problem worse and taken a hammer to US economy, impoverishing nearly 40 million of our fellow citizens.

How did we get here and—more important—what can we do about it?

Join public choice economist Randall G. Holcombe for a live discussion with Dr. Graham H. Walker, Independent Institute’s Executive Director, and find out! Q&A will follow.

Holcombe’s new book, Liberty in Peril: Democracy and Power in American History, recently published by the Independent Institute (Oakland, California), is indispensable reading for all those who care about America and the future of her freedom and prosperity.

Find this startling book on thinkspot, Amazon, or Independent.org.

Dr. Holcombe also has been writing cogently on the pandemic and the government’s response: Health, Wealth, and Liberty in the COVID-19 Era, COVID-19 and Your Constitutional Rights, and Government Restrictions Have Gone Too Far.
