Description

The Right Honorable John Anderson and I had the opportunity to speak once again, continuing to develop the themes we outlined in our original discussion.

Mr. Anderson was was Deputy PM of Australia and leader of the National Party from 1999 to 2005. He was a member of the House of Representatives from 1989 to 2007, and served as Minister for Primary Industries and Energy (1996–1998) and for Transport and Regional Development (1998–2005) in the Howard Government. Ten of the twelve budgets he helped mastermind produced a surplus -- a record unmatched by any other Western governments.
I will be traveling to Australia and New Zealand in February, and plan to meet with Mr. Anderson again then, as well.
We spoke about responsibility, the meaning of life, the growing public interest in philosophical discussion (driven in part by technologies such as online video), political polarization and classical liberal values, among other topics.
